And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. – Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
Dear Brilliant Community,
Over the last few weeks, life asked me to listen more closely—to grief, to clarity, to the gentle hum of alignment.
Earlier this month, we said goodbye to my father-in-law. He had just turned 90. Twelve days after his birthday, he transitioned—reuniting with Lorna, his long-time partner who passed earlier this year from breast cancer. Watching my husband care for his father in those final weeks was humbling. Tender. He shaved him. Sat with him. Loved him through the silence. This wasn’t a conventional family dynamic. It was layered and large, full of siblings with stories still unfolding. And yet, in the memorial, they all found joy and peace. We remembered his kindness, his humor, and the ways he gave of himself.
And in the quiet moments—sitting with my husband in my childhood home — I felt something click into place. The work I’m doing now, the vision we’re nurturing together, is about more than today. It’s about legacy. It’s about what we leave for our children, and their children. And the blueprint we pass down isn’t written only in money or assets—it’s written in values, decisions, community, and courage.
We talked that weekend about dreams, about our work—his, mine, and ours. And I was reminded again: we are in this for the long game. This isn’t just about what we build today, but how we plant seeds for generations to come.
✨ Showing My Work
That same spirit is fueling the work at Brilliant Corners. Over the past month, I’ve been working on:
Helping organizations hit long-standing milestones (including one that was a year in the making—delivered in just five months)
Building beautiful back-end hiring and onboarding systems for small teams.
Supporting people—visionaries—who are ready to move from dreaming to doing.
Clarifying my own services and offers - so I can support more founders, mission-driven teams, corporate clients, and government agencies at the federal, state and local level. I'm now fully registered with a CAGE Code, actively pursuing HUBZone certification and on a 90-day Supplier Success plan to secure and deliver on meaningful contracts. Whether its strategic planning, operational development or system implementation, I'm creating solutions that scale and last.

📚 What I’m Reading
I’m finished No One is Self-Made by Dr. LaKeysha Hallmon, a powerful reminder that we rise through community. But the book that’s been keeping me moving lately is Who Better Than You? The Art of Healthy Arrogance & Dreaming BIG by Will Packer. In Chapter 4—“The Fortuitous No: The Art of the Pivot”—he reminds us that rejection is often redirection. It’s hilarious, honest, and deeply inspiring. It brought me back to something my father used to say when he was selling life insurance: “I love hearing no—because I know I'm getting closer to a yes.” I've carried that advice for years—through my corporate years and now into entrepreneurship, consulting, and building a life that reflects my values.
But what I've come to understand more deeply now is this: The Fortuitous No is about transforming rejection into redirection. It’s not a failure—it’s a sacred interruption. A moment that asks us to pause with humility and pivot with courage. And when the path changes, it’s not always a detour. Sometimes, it’s the way.
The Fortuitous No is about transforming rejection into redirection. It’s not a failure—it’s a sacred interruption. A moment that asks us to pause with humility and pivot with courage.
And when the path changes, it’s not always a detour. Sometimes, it’s the way.
As my dad would also always tell us to, pivot and adjust. That’s not weakness. That’s wisdom. And that’s where the next chapter begins.
